Where to eat local charcuterie, Middle Eastern mezze, and vegan pizza
For the first time ever, Eater heads to Tel Aviv, Israel for a look at what's new and hot in the city's dining scene. As with the Tel Aviv 38, we've tapped local food writer Keren Brown to act as our guide, and for this Eater Heatmap, she names the buzziest openings of the past year. According to Brown, these 14 restaurants represent the "ever-evolving Tel Aviv style of breaking the rules," whether that's by loading late-night grilled cheese sandwiches with brie and bacon (Stellar), offering vegan pizzas inside a space shared with a radio station (Teder), or exploring the boundaries of kosher cooking (Mapu Restaurant).
Elsewhere, Brown identifies the work of two 25-year-old wunderkinds: the dinner-party-inspired OCD by Instagram star Raz Rahav, and the modern Middle Eastern fusion spot Maiar from chef Osama Dalal. And of course, there are new places to find old favorites like Mekupelet, kubbeh, mezze, and more.
Here now, and in geographic order, is the Eater Heatmap to Tel Aviv. Want the ultimate guide to Tel Aviv's dining scene? Check out the 38 Essential Tel Aviv Restaurants.
