Where to find fusion sushi, smoked pastrami, and baked goods in Argentina's capital city
Once again, Eater heads to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to discover the buzziest spots for eating and drinking. Offering her picks for the best the city has to offer right now is writer and Pick Up the Fork founder Allie Lazar.
Over the past year, increased inflation and a shaky economy have led to restaurant shutterings in Argentina’s capital, Lazar notes. But while restaurant openings have slowed, drinks are doing big business. “The Buenos Aires coffee depression officially ended, craft beer bars and gastropubs continued to multiply, and a young bartending generation began to open their own dream cocktail bars,” Lazar says. Straight ahead, find the coffeeshops (Lab, Café Registrado), cocktail destinations (Presidente Bar, Napolés), and revamped restaurants (Casa Cavia, La Birra Bar) that are keeping porteños interested.
BA will always be about the beef, so for steakhouse and must-eats guidance, check out Eater’s 38 Essential Buenos Aires Restaurants. Without further ado, and in geographic order, the Eater Heatmap to Buenos Aires.
