Where to go for chicken and waffles, grade-A beach eats, and exemplary sushi
Today Eater returns to Tel Aviv, Israel, to check in on 15 newish restaurants that have been garnering some serious buzz. As with the Tel Aviv 38, we've tapped local food writer Keren Brown to offer her picks for the hottest openings of the past 12 months.
“It’s been the year of casual, where everyone is taking things down a notch,” she says, pointing out that one of the city’s top chefs opened a burger kiosk and a beach restaurant this year (Susu and Sons, Calypso) as well as an entire complex dedicated to the art of the food truck (Food Truck Disco). There’s also plenty of comfort food — including good old American-style chicken and waffles (America).
Looking for the tried and true essentials? Check out the 38. Looking to eat on the cheap? There’s a guide for that, too. Here now, and in geographic order, is the Eater Heatmap to Tel Aviv.
