Watch: Can an Automatic Pasta Machine Beat Handmade Spaghetti?

It’s a device for carb fans who love fresh noodles, but hate making things by hand

The last time we tested pasta makers on the Kitchen Gadget Test Show, we devoted an episode to the many attachments you can add to a KitchenAid stand mixer (the appliance currently offers six options). Among the ones tested by host Esther Choi were a three-piece pasta roller set, an attachment dedicated to making sheets of ravioli, and a pasta extruder that makes shapes like fusilli, rigatoni, and bucatini.

All of these attachments vary in price, with some even inching toward the price of the stand mixer. But what if, instead, you put that money towards a machine dedicated to mixing, kneading, and extruding pasta dough; one created by lighting company turned all-household-items company, Phillips. The Philips Pasta and Noodle Maker retails for $250 and promises a pound of fresh pasta or noodles within 15 minutes.
