United Airlines Says Absolutely Perfect Biscoff Cookies Will Return in May

It’s all going to be OK

Please, at the very least, leave us our cookies. That’s the message United Airlines got after the public learned of its move to replace the classic caramel-y Biscoff wafer cookie with Oreo Thins during its complimentary food and beverage service late last week. But a United Airlines spokesperson confirmed to Eater that the swap is only a temporary one, part of its periodic snack rotation throughout the year, and plans to bring back the thoroughly perfect, subtly spiced, endlessly stashable cookies to United flights starting in May.

While airlines like Delta and American have had Biscoff in rotation for years, United actually only began serving the beloved cookies last September. Back in 2018, United also temporarily halted distribution of the also-very-well-liked Dutch stroopwafel, but reintroduced it a year later after public outcry, and today it is the only of the airline’s three snacks offered at any given time that remains constant.

Meanwhile, word of the Biscoff’s possible demise spurred a wave of public support for the cookie, including Chef’s Table creator and filmmaker David Gelb (Jiro Dreams of Sushi) who took the news as a chance to try to score a new corporate client.

Stay tuned for the new dramatically scored Netflix series Airplane Food, coming next fall.
